This is the brief talk that I gave during the rump session at the Asiacrypt 2010 conference, which was held at Swissôtel Merchat Court, Singapore.
The talk was based on example of Cryptoflex smart cards that I broke back in early 2005. These now-legacy smart cards had a severe vulnerability that as well affected all other smart cards that were based on this technology. As you may see from the slides, I have developed a practical attack how to extract cryptographic secret and private keys out of a card.
Another intention of this talk was to bring attention to existence of an understudied and undeservingly ignored class of simple attacks that do not require any specific equipment to target secure hardware.
